DO I ABANDON MY PERSONAL WILL FOR THE WILL OF GOD?
An erroneous idea has been in the system for ages and because of this, many people are reluctant to be born again or even do the work of God. That erroneous idea states that, anybody who wants to follow the will of God has to abandon his/her personal will.
God respects the will of man irrespective of whether you are born again or not. He has the power to make everybody born again within seconds but because He respects man’s will, He would not want to impose anything on man. In the same way, an individual is permitted to walk in his/her will after being born again. Where it becomes necessary to abandon your personal will is when your personal will puts yourself, people and society at risk and is not consistent with God’s word. For example, one has to serve society in order to be remunerated. It is not acceptable to get remuneration through robbery of people in society.
Secondly, because the will of God is progressive, we should not be too much concerned about whether we are walking in His particular will or not. What is important is to be obedient to the revealed word and as we are consistent in it, our spirits grow and become sensitive to God’s instructions. This is the stage where we are able to know the particular will of God for our lives. Prior to this, we should be free to walk in our personal will but within the limits of the revealed word. We have a loving father who pardons us for not doing the right things, however, that should not encourage us to continue doing the wrong things. The dynamic nature of His will may allow us to use some processes to get to the final destination He intends for us but we must be careful.
