Man is a Love and Triune Being
Man is a Love and Triune Being- this is awesome. Bible says that God is love and love must have an object that reciprocates that love (1 John 4:16-19). The created universe, without man, is unable to respond to the love of God in spite of its glories and beauties. Man as a being has a will and intelligence with the capability to choose to love and or to hate. The ability to hate emanated from the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. God created man by love, for love, and to show love in return. Without love, the heart of man remains empty.
Triunity of man looks at the three centres of consciousness of man. Man is composed of spirit, soul and body.
The spirit is the God-conscious part of man which is capable of knowing and relating to God. God created the spirit of man within man. “… and formeth the spirit of man within him…”(Zechariah 12:1). This makes God the God of all spirits (Numbers 16:22; 27:16; Hebrews 12:9). The spirit of man lives forever (eternal) and has the capability to worship God who is also a Spirit (John 4:24). The spirit of man is referred to as ‘the candle of the Lord’ (Proverbs 20:27). It takes the spirit of man to search and reveal spiritual things to man. The faculties of the spirit include intuition, conscience and communion. The fall of man resulted in loss of contact with God and this is restored through the new birth (born again). In the new birth, it is man’s spirit that is born again!” That which is born of the Spirit, is spirit (John 3:6). Anybody who accepts Jesus as Savior has his/her spirit becoming one with the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17).
The second centre of consciousness of man is the Soul. The soul is the self-conscious part of man. It has the capability of knowing one’s self. When God formed man from the dust of the earth, He breathed into man (Genesis 2:7) and this impacted spirit and soul into man. The soul connects the spirit and the body together in the triunity. Because of its central role, the soul can influence the spirit and or the body of man. The faculties of the human soul are mind, will and emotions.
The third cetre of consciousness of man is the body. This is the world-conscious part of man and has the ability to know and receive things from the physical world around him. The body of man has 5 senses which enable man to interact with his environment.
Relatively, the abilities of the body and the soul of man have been utilized to bring about advancement (in science and technology) in this world. The spirit is often relegated to the background but it is important to note that, man can rise further in advancement when attention is also given to the spirit. It takes the spirit to connect and receive from God. Let us all spend time to also develop our spirits through God’s word. Developing the spirit, soul and body is key to fulfilment on this earth. Man is a Love and Triune Being.
