Man is a Created Being
Man is a Created Being:
Genesis 1: 26-27 states “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.”
The above scripture has some useful information for our consumption. Firstly, it shows us that, the God Head was involved in the creation of man. This is a demonstration of unity of purpose within the God Head. Any group that is united for a particular purpose is headed for success and the opposite holds for any group that lacks unity of purpose.
Secondly, man was created to have dominion over other creatures of God. Man was not created to dominate other men. That is contrary to his role on earth. A man can lead other men to achieve a set target(s) as a group. To take dominion is to take total charge and programme the lives of other men even against their will. A typical example of dominion is slavery.
Man as used in the Bible mostly refers to both sexes (male and female). Therefore when scripture mentions Man in some contexts, it does not exclude females or put females on a lower pedestal.
Lastly, in the context of the Bible, to create means to make something out of nothing. The part of man that was created was his spirit. The physical body of man was formed from the dust of the ground (Genesis 2: 7) and houses the spirit. The ability to create (that is, making something out of nothing) is an attribute of the most high God. Man has not got the ability to create anything but has the ability to “form” items from already existing resources. Discover that, you have been given that absolute power to take dominion over other creatures of God. Indeed, Man is a Created Being.
