YOU NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26).
Assuming that the president of a nation was your best friend, how would you have felt and what would have been your personal expectations from him? Your best friend being the president would have assisted you in making life better for you. Maybe, he would have recommended you to be part of some board of directors provided that you were qualified. Maybe, he would have nominated you to serve in his/her government etc. Another scenario is this- how would you have felt if your best friend had knowledge about everything in this universe? I guess you would have also had knowledge about many things in this universe because your friend would have become your primary source of accurate information.
Have you heard about the Holy Spirit? You need the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead. The first mention of Him is in Genesis 1:2 when God was creating the world. He performed several other duties in the old testament but in all these functions, He indwelled man for a season and left. In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit played a major role in the ministry of Jesus Christ. Notable among these functions was where He raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11). Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, He promised His disciples and believers that the Holy Spirit was coming after Him to indwell believers. For the church and believers of today, the ministry of the Holy Spirit is very important for successful living on earth.
What are some of the functions of the Holy Spirit in the life of believers and the church? First and foremost, the Holy Spirit teaches us all things and brings all things to our remembrance (John 14:26). ‘All things means all things’. You need the Holy Spirit. If you are a student and you need excellence in your studies and your examination results, get close to the Holy Spirit through the word of God. We are not saying that neglect your books and call for help from the Holy Spirit in the examination hall. You have to put in a lot of effort in your study and call on Him to bring to your remembrance what you have studied.
Moreover, you need the Holy Spirit because He can grant you exceptional understanding about your study (Daniel 5:12; Daniel 6:3). If you need revelation to move to a greater level of glory in your ministry as a Pastor, recognise the ministry of the Holy Spirit and your ministry will be fruitful. If you need healing in any part of your body and medical science has not been able to help you out, you can get your healing from the ministry of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:9). The Holy Spirit can reveal your future to you so that you can work towards achieving your expected results. The Holy Spirit can transport us from one area to the other like He did for Philip (Acts 8:39). The Holy Spirit has all knowledge about the universe and can make us champions in any area of endeavor.
