STILL USEFUL TO GOD IRRESPECTIVE OF YOUR….!

errors

Sometimes, some of us close the chapter with God because we think we are not ‘worthy’ to serve God due to our past errors or sins. Irrespective of your so called unforgivable errors or sins, God is a loving person and He is always ready to receive you and use you in the ministry. This article is not intended to encourage people to live in errors or sins- no, however, it is geared towards encouraging us not to forget God in those moments of errors or sins. We are going to discuss a few characters who became valuable assets for God irrespective of their past errors or sins. They ‘blew it’ but God still welcomed them back and used them to accomplish great tasks. You are still useful to God irrespective of your past errors or sins!

Abraham deceived Abimelec by telling him Sarah was his sister (Genesis 20:2). Secondly, God promised Abraham a son but because it appeared that time was running out, Sarah gave one of her servants to Abraham and Ishmael was born. Abraham did not call it quit with God but continued to hold on. Finally, the promised son (Isaac) was born. “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God” (Romans 4:20).

Moses was called by God to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt. Moses in discharging the duty of God committed murder and had to flee for his life (Exodus 2:14). Somebody else would have abandoned the whole mission but Moses continued till the end.

When Joshua and others went to spy the city of Jericho, they lodged with Rahab, a prostitute and a liar (Joshua 2:1). Rahab was later saved physically for helping out the spies (Hebrews 11:31). Rahab is again mentioned as being part of the ancestry of Jesus Christ. When it comes to the things of God, sometimes there are exceptions that are difficult to understand with human reasoning.

David took Uriah’s wife (adultery) and murdered Uriah and yet bible says that David was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22). God’s mercies are overwhelming!

Sometimes, the temptation is that, because we have wasted all our years or because we have walked the path of error all these years, we are good for nothing for God. Age is not really a factor when it comes to serving God. No matter how bad your current state is, God can still make use you only if you are willing. Willingness to serve God is an exclusive personal decision to make; nothing else can keep you away from serving God except you!

We are not condoning sin or error but when they do occur sometimes, we should not abandon our walk with God. Moving away from God will worsen our situation. Any born again child does not and should not take delight in committing errors or sins. Indeed, it is possible to live a life without errors or sins and this should be the aspiration of every child of God. Some ‘scars’ may be generated as a result of our errors or sins but we can still be useful to God. You are still useful to God!
