WHY SOME CHRISTIANS FAIL IN LIFE
The bible is replete with many great promises for the world and children of God. Many bible characters believed some of these promises and reaped great results. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Elijah, Elisha, Paul and John are some examples. Some other characters in the bible also failed because they believed in themselves. Why do some Christians fail in life? Several factors account for why some Christians fail in life but this article will discuss some of the important factors.
Some Christians fail in life because they continue to live in their old ways. The new life in Christ goes with a certain unique lifestyle which is governed by the bible. Of course we are not saying that stop everything that you did in the past. These old ways must be assessed to see if they are consistent with the requirements of the bible. Jesus said “No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62). Being born again is not intended to deprive one of the joys and privileges of life. It is actually restoring man to a life of dominion and excellence and these are achieved through a consistent adherence to the revelations in the bible.
Secondly, some Christians fail because they are not students of the bible. To be a student of the bible means to learn from it to guide your life. If you don’t know your rights, privileges and responsibilities in the bible, you will not reach anywhere in your walk with Christ. “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, you are gods; and all of you are children of the most High, but ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes (Psalm 82:5-6). There are some things that people can volunteer to do for you but there are others that you alone can do for yourself. You have to personally know God and His word for yourself. “My people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge:….” (Hosea 4:6). Have time to study the word personally and also go to church to learn God’s word.
Lack of knowledge of God’s word leads the following challenges. One is not able to pray often and fast sometimes as required and can lead to failure. Praying is a ministry of the believer. Praying is an opportunity to have fellowship with the Father and build ourselves up in the spirit. “But ye, beloved, building up yourself on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” (Jude 1:20). Building up yourself spiritually always reflects in the physical. One has the opportunity to intercede for other people during moments of prayer. By praying, one can be lead to know what to do exactly concerning situations.
Lack of knowledge of God’s word can lead to inferiority complex. One can accept the notion that, one is good for nothing which is very contrary to what is enshrined in God’s word. Nobody in this world is worthless. Everybody is gifted in something unique and the gospel is one of the ways to discover one’s talent(s) or gift(s).
Lastly, lack of knowledge of God’s word leads to a life of no hope and lack of desire for success. Where there is no hope, God’s word makes things possible. The desire for success is a spiritual character in man. Without the bible, some people have excelled in this life, however, with the knowledge of God’s word, one can excel more because of leadership from a greater Spirit -Holy Spirit. Avoid the factors why some Christians fail in life and you will be victorious in all that you do.
