The will of God is to be
The will of God is to be:
For several decades, many dedicated Christians have been deceived to believe that God’s will is basically related to professions, a particular person to marry, a particular location to stay and many others instead of knowing that the will of God is to be. Therefore these people are primarily obsessed about what career path to follow. Some are also concerned about whether to become a missionary or to relocate to a developing country to serve the Lord. This is not entirely true.
To save one’s self from all these obsessions, the following are some of the things that one can do in order to walk in the will of God. The will of God is to be, that is, seek God first and the direction will be given. More often than not, we want God to give us a blueprint for the next several years but unfortunately, God does not give blueprints! God is interested in giving us the maker of blueprints (His word and the Holy Spirit) for us to depend on them instead of the plan. Let us focus more on the planner rather than anxiously look out for a blueprint. Focusing on the blueprint is idolatry.
God’s will relates more with our spiritual status than where we are located geographically. His will is tied more to the kind of person we are than the kind of profession we think He expects us to be in. If we are the right kind of persons He expects, all the other details will be altered by Him for our good if they are important. You can be at the right place at the right time and perform the right tasks but if you are not the right kind of person in the sight of God, all your efforts will be useless. It is very important to prepare ourselves for the leadership of the Holy Spirit. God expects us ‘to be’ and the rest will follow. We should have accepted Christ as savior, feed on His word, fellowship with the brethren and have a good prayer life (1 Peter 2:2,3).
God reveals His will to us gradually after moments of worship without any striving about knowing His plan for our lives. “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them” (Acts 13:2). Let us learn to worship our Father and we will be led to do the specific tasks of God for our lives.
Another point is not to be too concerned about the future than now. We must be careful not to waste time leaving in the future (Matthew 6:34). It is good sometimes to plan for the future but let us not spend so much time on it than we spend on the now. We should be asking ourselves always that are we doing God’s will right now? Are we yielding to the Holy Spirit right now? If you have any confusion about your past or future, be concerned about God’s will now. As you are obedient to the little things He expects you to do daily, His will becomes clearer. In the wilderness, God dealt with His children on a daily basis. Don’t be anxious about the future but be obedient to His word now and entrust Him with the future. The will of God is to be.
