SOME LEVELS OF RELATIONSHIP
Relationship is an important characteristic of living things. Plants and animals including microorganisms relate with each other. Sometimes the relationship is harmonious but at other times, the relationship may be broken. In this article we will be discussing some levels of relationship regarding man and other entities.
The first level of relationship is between man and God. God created man in His image, blessed man and gave man the power to dominate the earth (Genesis 1:28). God also created man for fellowship. Blessing is an invisible spiritual force. The fruits of blessing are what we see physically. When God was forming elements from the earth, He brought them to Adam to name them (Genesis 2:19). This shows the privilege given to man in the Garden of Eden. Since blessing is an invisible spiritual force, man can always produce the fruits of blessing. It does not matter the kind of forces out there that seek to crash the fruits of your blessing. Isaac dwelt in the valley of Gerar, dug a well and found water to feed his flock and family. The well was seized by his enemies so he dug another one and found water. That well was also seized until he dug the fourth well which was not seized by his enemy (Genesis 26:18-22). Due to the relationship we have with God, we have the blessing to always make or produce anything we want on this earth. It all depends on how we strengthen our relationship with God through His word.
The second level of relationship is between man and Satan. Scripture makes it very clear that the arch adversary, Satan, has been defeated (Hebrews 2:14). Before the advent, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Satan was the boss of the whole earth because man gave him that access in the Garden of Eden. The weapon of the devil now is to play on the mind of man resulting in confessions in his favour. Anytime, a man confesses inability, the devil works with it and ensures that man gets the result of the inability confessed. What proceeds out of our mouth matters so much. When one accepts Jesus as his/her personal savior, the power of sin and the relationship with the devil is broken (Romans 6:14). However, when a born again person neglects the word of God, he can be predisposed to committing sins/errors and getting its results. That is why a born again person can continue in sin although the power of sin has been broken.
The third level of relationship is between man and other men. When a man’s relationship with God is in order, he automatically relates to fellow men correctly. Stated in another way- a man who is at peace with God is also at peace with fellow men. That is why it is said that, if you want to improve your relationship with people (including friends, spouses, children etc.), then focus on improving your relationship with God. If you love God, you will obey His word and automatically, you will leave in harmony with fellow men. The great commission enjoins us to proclaim the word to the whole world. Our love for God will compel us to spread the word and save lives. To know God is the best experience that one can have on this earth because it marks the beginning of greater things to happen in the lives of people. Be conscious of these levels of relationship and your life will never be the same again.
