GIVING AND RECEIVING
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again (Luke 6:38).
Giving and receiving is a law that works for everybody on this earth. People who refuse to give may plummet into poverty that is why it is recommended that, when you want to break out of poverty, giving should be one of your characteristics. More often than not, an input will always yield an output. John 3:16 states that ‘For God so loved that world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life’. Because God almighty gave us His Son, He now has the whole world unto Himself. He sowed and has now received so much which is evidenced by the number of Christian in this world.
Some countries are now rich today not only because of pragmatic national and international policies they have implemented but also because they give out freely to support needy nations. These countries give out a lot of aid even to support other developed countries and as they do that, they are getting blessed all the more. Sometimes, one may think that when he/she gives, he/she will be losing but because giving and receiving is a spiritual law, instead of losing, you rather gain.
As part of the ministry of the church universal, we are admonished to go into the world and make disciples for Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15). To achieve this goal, resources are required and the church should be able to generate these resources from members in order to achieve the ‘great commission’. It is sometimes true that some men of God exploit members by preaching excessively and misleading on ‘giving and receiving’ and this must not be condoned. However, let us obey genuine men of God who preach on ‘giving and receiving’ in the church. Giving to advance the work of the gospel is actually an opportunity to be blessed by God. Giving is not limited to money. Giving is also an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of others who are less privileged. The church in using our offerings to spread the gospel also uses these funds to feed, clothe and provide shelter for needy persons in society. By so doing, the needy in society get to appreciate the gospel of Jesus Christ and are converted into a life of success.
Anytime you give out to bless people, it is likened to a seed that is planted. Every seed has several other seedlings/plants embedded in it. As you give out, you will receive in good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over. Remember to always give in LOVE.
