Be compelled by His love!
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead (2 Corinthians 5:14).
As children of God, we have to manifest the love element of God. In everything we do, we must be compelled by His love. Indeed, His love is shed abroad in our hearts ( Romans 5:5) meaning that we were born with His love and therefore have the ability to manifest it to the whole world.
The love of Christ must compel us to do several things. Be compelled by His love to keep His word. ‘if ye love me, keep my commandments’ (John 14:15). Doing the word is for our own good although it may seem to be difficult to obey sometimes. The more we do the word, the more we become the expectation of God. The bible is replete with several promises for the child of God but without obedience, it becomes difficult for us to enjoy these promises.
Secondly, we must ensure that we do not argue with God’s word. That is a sign of immaturity and may not help us. If we lack understanding about a portion of the Bible, we need to research and get the answer rather than try to argue with the scriptures and express doubt. The word of God is life and spirit and produces results for anybody who believes and obeys.
Thirdly, be compelled by the love of God to share it with other people. The beauty of God’s word has to bless others. The world would have been a better place than this if everybody knew the word of God and lived it. The word of God is the origin of excellence and success in this life. Anybody who receives it for the first time is transformed and becomes a blessing to the whole world. Get involved in the preaching of the word of God! Paul was compelled by the love of God to preach it (2 Corinthians 5:14). The same can be said of our High Priest (Jesus) and many other people.
His love will compel you to give out of your material possessions to bless the world. Resources are required to spread the word of Christ to the ends of the world. If you don’t go in person, your resources can help to support persons who go in person. Generously give to support the spread of the Gospel.
Finally, be compelled by His love to love everybody irrespective of their background. This is sometimes difficult especially when one comes across so called ‘wicked’ people who have been a threat to others. The Bible says that, even when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). We have to demonstrate this same love to everybody we come across.
