ARE YOU CREATIVE?
The ability to ‘create’ or invent is an important element for advancement in this world. Creativity is an innate character in man which has no boundary! In the book of Genesis, we notice that God created the whole universe beautifully and put the universe under the care of man. Man was given the power to ‘take dominion’ over the universe (Genesis 1:26) and to ‘dress the garden and to keep it’ (Genesis 2:15). It is a privilege that God has deposited in man the ability to invent and improve the world. The question to ask ourselves is how effectively have we used that ability to invent to improve the world around us? Are you creative?
The ability to ‘create’ or invent underlines the kind of services we are able to provide to the world and earn returns. In the field of IT, Microsoft, Apple and others are noted for great inventions that have improved the lifestyle of many people in this world. Can you imagine how the world would have been like without the benefits of computers, mobile phones, softwares, etc.? These companies started very small some year ago but have become very big because of their creativity and problems they have been able to solve. As individuals, it is important to identify what we are good at and develop these abilities with available knowledge in order to be relevant in the affairs of this life. The things we are able to do with minimal inputs or efforts are the ‘gifts’ we can easily develop. For instance, some people can paint so well as if they had received some professional training. Some kids are able to build very nice objects/edifices when they are out there playing with other kids. Others are also able to write poems and stories so nicely as if they had received some professional training.
When one identifies his/her ‘gift’, it is important to assess the level of quality of that ‘gift’. In some cases, one will need to polish that quality with additional professional training whilst in other cases, the level of quality is so high that professional training would not be necessary. Personal assessment is important here. I have come across a few actors with exceptional qualities in their role play but did not receive any professional training whilst other equally exceptional characters received some additional professional training. The sure way of making an impact on the world and earning returns is to develop your unique innate abilities and provide services to the world around you. Make your services relevant by solving challenges that people are exposed to. God is happy whenever his children are helping each other and ultimately dominating the world and keeping it. However, in your creativity, be mindful of the environment and the health of others.
